Charity Club's generosity brings birthday celebrations to children with cancer in India

Hyderabad, India -- September  2013 -- Students living a world away are providing birthday cakes for children living with Cancer in Hyderabad, India.

Grins spread across the faces of Jhanavi and Krishna as they cut their birthday cake surrounded by family, fellow patients and MNJ staff and volunteers. It marks both personal and treatment milestones for the children—among the 10,000  pediatric and adult patients seen each year at MNJ.

Students in the Charity Club at Panorama Ridge Secondary School in Surrey, BC, have collected donations for the past year to support the 'Birthday Fund' for children  in the paediatric ward at Mehdi Nawaz Jung Institute. Following a visit by Zahra Lalani, a nurse volunteer withTwo Worlds Cancer, the students raised funds with lunch time candy and pizza sales.

The Panorama students were featured in a story in The Surrey Leader following a return visit by Lalani to share her latest experiences at MNJ and show the students how their donations are used.
