Two Worlds Cancer Gala

You can help reduce suffering and improve cancer outcomes in the lesser-resourced world by supporting the TWO WORLDS GALA on Thursday, October 2, 2014, Vancouver, BC, presented by the ONNI Group. Critical funding provided by the Gala will support curative and palliative cancer care for children and young adults in India through the new Young People With Cancer Project.

Young People With Cancer Project

In 2015, Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration will initiate an expanded program for young people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses

  • This will be in addition to its existing support for palliative and end-of-life care for adults and children with cancer
  • This program will be developed and administered through the Mehdi Nawaz Jung Institute (MNJ) in Hyderabad, India under the supervision of Dr. Gayatri Palat
  • Currently the MNJ Palliative Care Program is the regional leader in the field and the Young People With Cancer Project will build upon this already established and effective platform

Young People With Cancer Project will deliver:

  • An in-patient unit for 0-5 year olds suffering from cancer to complement the current unit that cares for 5-12 year olds
  • A second in-patient unit for 12-18 year olds with cancer who need treatment not only for cancer but also the physical, emotional, educational and social challenges of adolescent and teen years
  • Expanded palliative care for children with illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, thalassemia and other life-limiting illnesses
  • A dedicated Home Care Team for these young people
